Female Fitness Model Category

The 2011 Natural Bodz Asia Pacific International Championships saw the introduction of the of the first ever Fitness Model event in Australasia and has since had rapid growth among the fitness industry. In 2017 the Fitness Model category will see the addition of the Newcomers Class for those that are in their first year of competing or new to our organization. The exciting Natural Bodz Pro League brings the ultimate level of competition and opportunities for top level athletes.

Our definition of a Female Fitness Model is an athlete that personifies the “Fitness Industry” on a whole.
The “Look” is a combination of Body, Looks, Personality and Stage Presence. This is NOT purely a modelling competition it is a “Fitness Modelling” competition, hence the judges are looking for a leaner, toned, athletic body type with looks that are both appealing and marketable. In the real world Fitness Models would appear on Magazine Covers, in Fitness Articles, Product Endorsements, TV Commercials. Hence to be a successful Fitness Model, you have to the complete package and that is what our expert panel of judges are looking for…. An athlete with the complete package. Body, looks and Stage Presence!

Female Fitness Models are expected to be leaner than the Bikini Model category however not totally defined in all areas as would be expected in the Figure Category.

The major difference between a Bikini Model and a fitness model is primarily determined by how lean the athlete is. Fitness Model competitors must have a very toned and taut body and leaner in the abdominal area than the Bikini Model, however still requires to have a feminine figure.

Less detail and definition is required to that of a figure competitor and the delineation between the fitness model and figure competitor is the level of definition and muscle separation in the torso and limbs (both arms and legs). If a competitor has very defined arms, legs and back they would be better suited to the Figure Category.

Fitness Model Divisions

The Fitness Model category will be broken into the following divisions:

  • Newcomers Division:– NEW in 2017
This division is targeted to those who are entering their first Fitness Model competition or those that are within their first 12 months of competing. The division may be split into height or age classes based on competitor numbers.
  • Junior (22 years and under as at 1st Jan)
  • Novice (has not won this division  or the Open divisions before)
  • Open
  • Classic (30 years and over as at competition day)
  • Pro League Fitness Model (See this link)

All divisions may be split further by height classes (ie. short, medium, tall) subject to final competitor numbers which will be known after the official registration. Competitors will be advised at the competitor briefing date and time TBA.

Competitors can enter in to more than one division ( ie. Junior and Open or Novice and Open etc..) if they desire, subject to the division age and applicable entry fees.

Note: Novice & Junior divisions will not perform individual walks in Rounds 1,2 or 3 rather they will come on collectively in each respective group where by comparisons and half turns will be performed. Open & Classic divisions will perform individual cat walks in all Rounds prior to group comparisons and half turns.

Judging Rounds in Female Fitness

There will be three rounds in the fitness model category and this will comprise of a:

Contestants will be asked to walk in a bikini and high heels across the stage. It is important to mention that two-piece swimsuits are required. Thongs or G-Strings are not acceptable.

Contestants will be asked to walk on stage cat walk style displaying active/sports wear or theme wear that will be of the athlete’s choice. The chosen attire must be tasteful and complementary to your body type.

As of 2014 this round has been opened up to include any Theme and not just sport to allow for more creativity. Sport active wear is still acceptable. In all cases the outfit of choice must still allow judges to be able to assess the athlete’s body and body shape.

Contestants will be asked to walk onstage wearing their choice of evening/nightclub wear. Ensure your outfit is stylish and sexy yet not lewd in presentation.

There is a wide interpretation for this round in respect to choices in clothing, but the idea is to choose something that is stylish and flattering to your body type, skin colouring, hair etc.

Each round will be judged on the following attributes:

Our expert panel will be looking for fit, feminine contestants who display proper shape and symmetry combined with overall condition and beauty. Keep in mind this is not a bodybuilding or figure contest, so extreme muscularity and definition will be negatively scored.

POISE, POSTURE AND PRESENTATION (including hair makeup and smile)  30%

Our expert panel will be looking for contestants who have great stage presence and a very marketable look for fitness modeling.

Our expert panel will be looking for contestants who best compliment the apparel they are modeling and therefore can suit almost any type of attire.

Important Note for Female Fitness Models:
As the Asia Pacific Event prides itself for its class and professionalism; it is important that Females Fitness Models do not portray themselves on stage as anything less. Females are to ensure when standing on stage or performing their half turns to the front and rear of the stage that their feet remain together without excessive arching of the back. Provocative and sexual stances/facial expressions/gestures will be mark down.

Open and Classic divisions will be required to do an individual catwalk either as a T walk or Spotlight walk across the stage (type of walk will be determined based on the final competitor numbers) in each round. At a set point on stage Models will take a moment to pose, do either a quarter or half turn and move either to the next set point on stage (if-T walk) and do the same or move to the rear of stage and commence the formation of a line-up.

Once each competitor has performed their individual walk each line-up of competitors will be asked to move forward for the comparisons to occur.

For the comparisons competitors will be asked to perform half turns, facing front of stage straight on then facing the rear of the stage. This may occur several times as you are being judged and the judges may need extra time to finalise their scoring. (Note: No moves or stances of any sexual or erotic nature will be tolerated.)

Newcomers & Junior divisions will not perform individual walks, rather they will come on collectively in each respective group where by comparisons and half turns will be performed.

An expert Judging Panel for the Fitness Model Categories will be made up of professionals from within the fitness, fashion and health industry such as Modelling Agents, Professional Fitness and Fashion Photographers, Talent Scouts and Fashion Industry Members, as well as some Internationally Recognized fitness Celebrities.

Every ticket holder of the event will receive 1 voting card on entry in which they will write (contestant number) their choice for first place female. Voting cards will be placed in allocated ballot boxes in the venue.
